Blended Training Model
Start online with an on-demand lesson library and continue in person with trauma-informed, interactive training.
ALICE Active Shooter Training is delivered in two phases:
Participants receive foundational knowledge through flexible digital modules that fit into their schedule.
Participants apply what they’ve learned in practical, scenarios, allowing them to practice emergency response techniques with guidance from experts.
This approach strengthens retention and builds confidence across your entire school community.
Based on Age & Ability
Use our K-12 instructional materials customized to children’s age, cognitive, behavioral and developmental ability levels. Teachers are supported with lesson plans and visual aids that simplify the process of introducing critical safety concepts in a way that can be easily understood and retained by students.

Trauma-Informed
Training is trauma-informed, guided by the four R’s: Realize the effects of trauma, Recognize the signs of trauma, Respond to students using trauma-informed practices, and Resist re-traumatization during drills.
Each component of ALICE considers the emotional impact of active shooter response training.
Leaders and staff must understand the impact of trauma and how it can influence behavior, decision-making, communication, and overall well-being. This includes recognizing how past experiences shape responses to stress and crisis.
Being trauma-informed means identifying signs that someone may be struggling—such as withdrawal, heightened aggression, fatigue, or disengagement—and understanding these may be linked to past trauma rather than willful misconduct.
Trauma-informed response strategies involve using respectful language, practicing situational awareness, and implementing policies that prioritize emotional safety alongside physical security. Every interaction is an opportunity to reinforce trust and support.
Safety drills and training exercises should be conducted in ways that avoid triggering individuals who have experienced trauma. ALICE Training® emphasizes thoughtful communication, age- and ability-appropriate instruction, and the importance of debriefing and support after training events.
