Nickey Nichols
Nickey comes to us from the “Natural State” (aka Arkansas), where she grew up in a rural area outside of North Little Rock. As one of five children, Nickey began her education during a time of desegregation in her hometown. Instead of attending the school in her neighborhood, she was assigned to another school across town! Nickey’s parents instilled in her a passion for learning and her teachers encouraged and guided her along the way. As a first-generation college student, she attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She began her teaching career in Pulaski County in the same district in which she once was a student.
Nickey holds a degree and certificate in elementary education, social work and special education. She worked with teachers and students in Arkansas and Texas for 15 years as both a teacher and/or instructional coach. She’s also been a district-level RTI/PBIS coordinator with more than 10 years of experience working with schools in implementing PBIS. She understands PBIS in the classroom as well as at the district level.
