Our hearts go out to Abundant Life Christian School, and all of Madison, WI. As we watch coverage of another tragic school shooting, we are reminded once again of the far-reaching and irreversible damage done to students, educators, families, and communities by the epidemic of gun violence.
In response to the shooting, JP Guilbault, CEO of Navigate360 and ALICE Training®, issued the following statement:
“Today, the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School weighs heavily on our hearts. No community should endure such pain, and no school should be a place where fear takes root. In moments like these, we are grateful for the bravery of those who rush to help—law enforcement, first responders, and the health care professionals who continue to care for the wounded.
As a society, we must ask ourselves: What can we do to prevent such horrific events from happening again?
Safety must be a given for every student, parent, and educator—not an exception. We owe it to the next generation to build school communities where they feel safe to learn and thrive. That means equipping them with tools to address challenges thoughtfully, navigate conflicts peacefully, and seek trusted guidance.
Preventing future tragedies requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses the root causes of violence while also implementing proactive safety measures, situational awareness, and community engagement. Communities must be trained to recognize signs of distress in students early and take action to intervene before harm occurs. This begins with a relentless commitment to effective safety measures—detailed plans, regular training, and open communication—so that staff and students alike are empowered to respond confidently in the face of danger.
At Navigate360, we believe in a future where harm is not inevitable but preventable. Reaching this goal of zero incidents is not a lofty dream. It is a responsibility we all share to ensure our children grow up in environments built on the principles of security and compassion.
To the people of Madison, WI, we extend our deepest condolences and unwavering support. Together, we can build a culture of empathy, understanding, and respect.”
We are committed to partnering with communities nationwide to turn grief into action, ensuring every school becomes a place of safety, learning, and hope.
